more details ...Crowns, Bridges and Dentures
The gap in your teeth can affect your 'bite' and therefore alter the alignment of your teeth. This increases the chance of food stagnation between teeth which could lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
Your Genix Healthcare dentist will suggest the most appropriate method of restoring the look of your missing or lost teeth which could include one of the following treatments:
- Crowns
A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is also referred to as a 'cap'.
Crowns can be made from a number of materials and new materials are continually being introduced. Genix Healthcare strives to keep up to date with new advances in dental treatment; crowns currently available are gold, ceramic and porcelain. - Bridges
Bridges are custom made false teeth fixed on to existing teeth and can give the same aesthetic look and feel as your own. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures. Bridges require your commitment to serious oral hygiene, but could last as long as ten years or more.
- Dentures
A partial, complete/full denture can replace missing teeth so that you can enjoy a healthy diet or smile with confidence. Dentures are made of either acrylic (plastic) or chrome cobalt.
A 'complete' or 'full' denture is one which replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaws.
A 'partial' denture fills in the spaces left by lost or missing teeth. It may be fastened to your natural teeth with metal clasps or 'precision attachments'.
