FAQs

How often should I visit my dentist?

Your Genix Healthcare dentist will usually recommend a dental check up at least once a year but this will depend on the condition of your teeth and the treatments you have had in the past. Regular check ups and having your teeth professionally cleaned are vital to ensuring healthy teeth and gums.

Am I entitled to NHS treatment at my local Genix Healthcare clinic?

Genix Healthcare provides both NHS and private dentistry in most of their dental clinics. To see if NHS treatment is available at your local Genix Healthcare clinic please contact them direct, their details can be found on our Clinic Locator. Also to see if you are entitled to NHS treatments please visit the NHS website at www.nhs.uk.

All clinically necessary treatments and dentures will still be available on the NHS. If you want, or your dentist suggests, treatment that is purely cosmetic (for example, tooth whitening, large white fillings or white crowns on back teeth), you can decide to have this treatment done privately. Your local Genix Healthcare clinic or dentist can tell you how much this will cost in addition to charges for NHS treatment.

What treatment is available for missing or lost teeth?

There are a number of treatment options for missing or false teeth, this largely depends on the current state of your oral and dental health and the location of your missing teeth. There are a number of options offered at Genix Healthcare clinics. Make an appointment with your dentist to find out the best options for you.

What causes tooth decay?

Tooth decay is caused by plaque. Plaque is a thin sticky layer of bacteria that forms constantly on your teeth. The plaque reacts with foods containing sugar and starch which produces acid. The acid then dissolves the enamel on your teeth.

Maintaining a high standard of dental hygiene can help to reduce plaque on your teeth. Genix Healthcare have a range of dental care products in all their clinics to help you maintain a happy healthy smile at home.

How can you put nervous children at ease when visiting the dentist?

Regular visits are essential in helping your child to become accustomed to the surroundings and what goes on in a dental surgery. Children can become anxious especially when it is their first visit but overtime with regular visits and supportive parents and dental staff they will be more at ease.

It is very important to bring your child along with you for inspections at a very early age. Do not wait until they have toothache.
