Endodontics
Endodontic is root canal treatment and usually requires treatment when the blood or nerve supply (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. Treatment requires the root canal to be cleaned and filled to remove and prevent the infection spreading which may lead to an abscess. At Genix Healthcare we have Endodontic Specialists who are able to perform this procedure.
Endodontics is a time consuming procedure which requires a great deal of skill and will involve two or more visits to the dentists. The first visit will involve removal of the infected pulp and any abscesses present will be drained. The root canal is then shaped and cleaned ready for a filling. A temporary filling is put in initially to allow the tooth to settle. Subsequent visits will allow the dentist to check if the infection has cleared; once the all clear is given can it be permanently filled.
